ところで、私のかなり古いアメリカの女性ハイクフレンドの Janet から大変な e-mail が届いたのです。
ちょっと長くなりますが、Tom さんにはご紹介したくて .....
Shand's hospital has diagnosed that I have Als...after a two hour trip
and many electrical shocks and needles stuck here and there this was
their confirmation...
I have more or less lost my ability to speak...sometimes it is better
than others...
I would want to know if something bad was happening to you...so I
thought I would let you know just in case I disappear completely from
here...
so far, so good I am still functioning rather well, but am having
difficulty with my swallowing...don't really know what to expect...every
case is different, they tell me...
I haven't ruled out a miracle healing (grin)...

私も一生懸命、次のような返事を今、送ったところです。
Janet,
I was shocked with your e-mail and tried to study about ALS as much as possible.
One thing I've found is that your disease is fairly close to the disease of a Japanese
woman who is a woman in the news now.
She graduated from Colombia University and had been working at Mitsubushi Institute
of Life Sciences as a research worker until she came down with neurotic disease,
resembling to multiple Sclerosis, in 1978. She was afraid she would die before long,
but she began to write some essays. More than twenty books were published until now.
I noticed some of her ideas are very close to the ideas in the poetry of Mitsuo Aida.
Here and now is all that truly exists

At any point in time,
There is no situation which remains exactly the same,
This is the concept known as "Mujo".
"Mujo", therefore the infant grows.
"Mujo", therefore the bud becomes a blooming flower.
And, "Mujo", therefore, there is no one who has a guarantee
